Posted September 09, 2018 06:05:25 A dog was reportedly left for dead after it attacked a man on a Sydney bus and then ran off, authorities said.
The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but the dog apparently escaped from the bus and attacked the man, who was in a wheelchair, a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
A dog had been left for about an hour on a south-western Sydney bus about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sydney Police Assistant Commissioner Steve Dickson said.
A woman was riding the bus with a dog and was sitting in the rear of the bus when the dog started to bite the woman’s leg, Dickson told reporters.
She ran away and called police, who rushed to the scene.
“The woman got off the bus in a hurry, ran up to the dog and got it off her leg,” he said.
The dog had not been microchipped and Dickson did not know if the woman had any injuries. “
It’s quite frightening, we’ve got a lot of dogs on our buses, and the dog is a very aggressive dog.”
The dog had not been microchipped and Dickson did not know if the woman had any injuries.
“We do not believe there was a history of aggression between the two parties, but there is a bit of history of conflict,” he told reporters in Sydney.
“There are people that come on buses that are very, very aggressive.”
