CALBRETT, Ohio — A New York City Times reporter spent a week in the city last year to cover a coronavirus pandemic.
The movie, “Calcuttas News,” is about the city’s struggle to deal with the virus and the challenges of being a reporter.
The film was directed by Sam O’Donnell, who was previously the executive producer of the film “The Good Fight,” about the Occupy Wall Street movement in the early 1990s.
The Times has received some of the movie’s financing, but O’Brien, who grew up in New York, said it was an effort to give the story more depth and realism.
O’Neill said he didn’t expect the movie to go viral.
But it has since been viewed more than 1.7 million times on YouTube.
The news was a topic that O’Sullivan addressed on Twitter last week.
He told the Times that he felt a “deep gratitude for being able to work in the country with such an amazing group of reporters” and that he was excited to continue working with them.
“I’m also very excited about working with a great group of producers,” he said.
“And I know they’re doing a phenomenal job.
They’ve made this movie and we are excited to be able to share it with you.”
O’Neil said the film was also inspired by his own experiences covering the outbreak, which has left New Yorkers at home and in fear for their safety.
The paper’s coverage of the pandemic is among the most-read on its website.
He said the paper also was grateful for the help from people from other cities.
“We did some amazing things, from helping to build a bridge to connect people who were homeless to the homeless,” he tweeted.
“But most of all, I’m very grateful to be here to see what this city has to offer.
Calcutta is in the midst of a pandemic that has killed more than 2,400 people, sickened more than 4,000 and left nearly 1 million more homeless.
Ollie said the city was experiencing a “very tough moment,” and that it was hard for reporters to be there.
But he said there are good reasons for people to stay home and that “calm people are going to stay in their homes.”
