The Dune movie franchise is going back to its roots in a sequel that will feature the robots from the 1980s.
The Dredd film franchise will bring back its original cast members and original director, who will return to direct the sequel, the Fox Searchlight Pictures announced on Wednesday.
The movie will be based on the 1980 film, which starred Charlton Heston as a law enforcement officer who finds himself at the center of a violent crime wave after the death of his father.
The film’s plot will be inspired by the novel by Michael Moorcock, and will focus on the rise and rise of Robocop, a robot police force, and its founder, Dick Grayson.
The plot of the film will revolve around the creation of Robopocalypse, a global system of robot law enforcement that is introduced in the sequel.
The first film, Robocops, starred Heston and Robin Wright.
In the sequel Dredd, Grayson and his new robot partner will become heroes of the day after a brutal attack on their home.
The sequel will be released in theaters on Dec. 6, 2019.
